5 Axis Cutting
TSM’s Hex-A-Jet was developed to handle the difficult waterjet jobs that conventional X-Y-Z machines cannot. The Hex-A-Jet’s 5-axis
motion (technically 6 degrees of freedom) is generated by a hexapod from Parallel Robotic Systems, which means that following the most complex 5 axis spline motion path is as easy as following a straight line.
The inherent design of the hexapod, along with the straightforward construction, contributes to exceptional mechanical ruggedness. The hexapod is easily guarded
against mechanical contamination as well as maintaining operator safety. The modular construction also provides a high degree of flexibility. The Hex-A-Jet can be configured to
handle everything from degating castings weighing several thousand pounds to cutting miniature medical components. Integrating probes, vision systems, rotary tables, hoists, pick and place units, etc. is easily accomplished.
